Bush has won Iowa

It was announced today that the little state of Iowa, the last holdout in the "too close to call" column, has indeed cast it's lot with the President. It is a small and inconsequential victory at this point, unless one looks at the fact that no Republican has carried the state since Reagan. Then it's signifigance becomes clear. Not only does it make the overall electoral college number larger for the President (286-252) , but it makes the argument from leftist circles that Bush doesn't have a mandate all the more difficult to support.
Welcome back, Iowa. We're glad to have you.
